1. “The Harry Potter Flu Breaks Out!” by Rachelle H.
Once again the Harry Potter flu has returned, spreading quicker than ever! Some say millions will be down with this flu weeks before July 16, 2005. Siblings have already begun to argue over who is going to read the book first!

2. “Magic Managed” by Francesca D.
The store was dark with anticipation. Out on the street cars were conspicuously parked along the curb, a wary police office cruised by, drawn by the activity, once, twice and a third time.

Inside Francesca the Mistress of Magical Scissors and Gypsydee the Head seamstress at Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasions were rushing to put the finishing touches on the munchies, the slime punch and banish all lurking gnomes.

3. “The Censor’s Dementors by Becky A.
What do a 62-year-old grandma, her 31 year-old-daughter and five year-old grandson have in common? Harry Potter, of course. There are few events, and none in the publishing world that I am aware of, that can unite three generations of one family. But, there we were. My mother, who bears a striking resemblance to Maggie Smith, dressed as Professor McGonagall, complete withÊpointed witch’sÊhat adorned with long, thin turkey feathers. My son, forty-two inches tall, wearing a black cape and carrying both Hedwig and his Nimbus 2000, and me: large glasses, wild hair, holding a tea cup, paying homage to the eccentric Professor Trelawney.

4. “A Magical Night in the Muggle World” by Adam P.
Passing the time until the big moment was no trouble. I completed the word search and the trivia quiz. Professor Trelawney actually had pleasant news for me as she read my palm: my life-line dropped off my hand, meaning I would fall off a cliff when I was 101 years old. One of the Weasley twins—nobody could tell if it was Fred or George—performed magic tricks with cards, balls, coins and levitation. At one point he asked me to hold my hand out flat, palm down. I did so. He fanned out his fingers to show me he carried nothing in his hands. Then he hovered both his hands over mine, held them there for a second, and suddenly a two-dollar coin materialized on the back of my hand. My eyes widened and my mouth dropped open; it was as though it had grown right out of my skin.

... hairless mice aren’t the only main attraction at Indigo’s “Potter Madness” celebration. A DJ was also brought out the pump up the crowd on the second floor, next to the kid’s section. Top 40 hits were only succeeded by soundtracks of the first three Harry Potter movies, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which only heightened the level of impatience.

Nearing two hours before release time, one fan started the line for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Sam Khanlari says, “The book has become such a hype that having the satisfaction of getting the book first makes it that much better!”
