Raincoast Books Employment Policy
Whenever employment opportunities -- full-time, part-time, contract, freelance -- are available Raincoast will post advertisements or requests for resumes in industry trade journals and newspapers, such as Quill and Quire and the Editors Association of Canada.
Raincoast Books Internship Policy
Raincoast offers internships to students enrolled in publishing and print production programs at accredited universities and colleges.
Raincoast usually hires one or two summer interns from Simon Fraser's Masters in Publishing
program, as well as interns for students coming out of the print production programs at various colleges, such as
Douglas College. Raincoast has also accepted interns from the
Creative Writing program at UVic or UBC, as well as from publishing programs across Canada, such as Algonquin College in Ontario.
If you are committed to a career in book publishing, or even if you want to learn more about how it works, Raincoast
recommends any of the educational programs available through the above mentioned institutions. Not only do they provide valuable skills and background in publishing,
but they will often provide useful networking opportunities and a possible entrance into employment.
You can find more information about these various programs at each institution's website, and you might also check the websites of the
Association of Book Publishers of BC and the Association of Canadian Publishers.
