If you had asked me a week ago where my cell phone was I probably would have stared at you blankly and had to ponder the question for awhile. My cell phone... did I leave it in the car? Is it buried at the bottom of my purse? Did I leave it sitting on the bar at home? The only people who regularly phoned me on it are my husband and my co-worker Dani. I'll admit I didn't even have voice mail set up. Text Messaging? Why is everyone so into text messaging? And how do they do it so fast? It took me 20 minutes to type out a text message! Who has time to press the 2 key 3 times to get the C to pop up? Email and Social Networking? That is a computer thing. My phone didn't have the capabilities.
"Why oh why are people so addicted to their cell phones?" I wondered on a regular basis.
Then on Friday, April 15th my life changed. That is day that my husband brought home my brand new iPhone. Phone, calendar, email, Facebook, Twitter, camera, to-do lists, internet, blogging and everything all interacting with each other and with all of your coworkers, friends and family. And the apps! Oh the apps! So many good apps! I finally understand why people are so addicted to their smart phones.
So today I am going to tell you about two of them created by two of our fabulous publishers- Moleskine and Lonely Planet.
This nifty app allows you to express your creativity through text, images and sketches just the way you would in your Moleskine notebook. Choose the paper that you would like to use- plain, ruled or squared. Select the color that you want to code each of your notebooks with and the icon that you want to represent each notebook. The perfect app for keeping to-do lists, jotting down your thoughts, creating a travel itinerary, sketching passerbyers while sipping coffee at a local cafe, plotting out how you are going to arrange your furniture in your new apartment. Really your imagination is the limit. You can also geo-tag your notebooks and share them with your friends via all of the popular social networking sites. Very cool!
Just in time for Wills and Kate's big day is the Royal London Audio Walking Tour from Lonely Planet. If you haven't used a Lonely Planet Walking Tour App before I would definitely recommend them. The Royal London Walking App takes you on a half day journey past 13 of London's must see, royal, sight seeing locations. Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Parliament and Big Ben are a few of the locations you will visit. Through each of the walks your "guide" will give you insider information into the places you are visiting. Whether you are visiting in real life or taking an armchair visit to London this is a fun app to have on your phone.
So ask me where my phone is and I will tell you in an instant. Right here next to me. I am so excited to be learning about all the things my new phone can do for me. What are your favorite apps? Have you used a Lonely Planet Walking Tour App before? What do you think of the new Moleskine App?
